“Drawing Installation Class,” charcoal and ink on paper, a drawing class exhibition, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing, China, 1988
The new art format of installation and performance art were very avant-garde in the 80s in China. This installation class was the first of its kind in China which I taught at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Some of the students went on to become important figures of contemporary Chinese art. Later, the installation was shown in the school’s art museum as a new vision for art education reform.
